Writing Assist in

After seeing the Writing Assist device on display in IATP’s Demonstration Center, an Occupational Therapist (OT) requested a smaller version for a client who enjoys coloring. The smaller version needed to fit the size of a young child’s hand and accommodate a marker rather than the pen/pencil of the demonstration version. This device allows an individual with decreased arm and/or grip strength the ability to use a writing utensil.

IATP’s Makers Program designed and 3D-printed a smaller version of the Writing Assist that is able to hold a marker. A threaded heat set insert was installed into the device to allow for a screw to be used to hold the marker in place or any other writing utensil, big or small, while the device is in use.
