Kara came in into IATP looking for some assistance. Kara’s vision has recently changed so she has been learning how to use a white cane but with her limited mobility this has become a challenge. The Team used different items in the demonstration center to help identify posible handle options that Kara would find more comfortable. It was determined the grip would need to keep Kara’s wrist in a neutral position as to prevent over flexing in her wrist. After many meetings to discuss different fittings and trying different variations, the team had found a design that would work best for Kara. They added padding for comfort and skin protection and velcro to keep the cane attached in the correct position. Kara went home with a comfortable fitting navigation aid she can easily use leaving her very satisfied.
