The IATP Maker’s program was contacted by a member of IATP’s Tech Kitchen Program about fabricating labels for a client’s shelves. The customer was having difficulty maintaining organization in her pantry because most labeling options would not adhere to her shelf cabinets. She also often rearranged her spices which was already difficult to do without assistance. These labels needed to be both brailled and lettered as the individual who lived in the home reads braille but the people who did their shopping did not. The Makers Program was able to fabricate labels that featured brailled text and lettered text. In addition to featuring both brailled and lettered text, the labels also featured a clip that would allow the labels to attach to most shelves.
