The Maker’s program was contacted by an individual requesting a folding braille ruler like the one his father had in the past before losing it in a house fire. He was unable to find a similar version for purchase. The customer requested the ruler fold inward when not in use and include marks every 1/8th inch just like the one his father had. The customer assisted in the design phase from beginning to end providing feedback on the prototypes until finalized. Once the design was finalized, the ruler was 3D-printed in contrasting colors and assembled by incorporating a hinge in the middle to allow folding. The customer received one braille ruler and requested an additional one for his father as well. Now they can both measure on their own using their own braille ruler.
